re Uploading Picture ie Chart at Start of book
First of all Calibre is great - I can convert text information from Word Program(RTF) to Mobi Output. However at the start of the Text there is a picture saved as such in Word. On Conversion to Mobi Output it shows up as a query in a squared box on a blue background with ? mark stating "Copy Image" ,"Go to" or "Inspect" .
Without being too technical is it possible to produce the correct image as saved in Word at the start of the E-book Viewer ? Thank you for your help |

It depends on the format. If it is a .png or a .jpg file it shold convert fine. If it is something else you may have problems.

Thanks for your quick reply
Input for picture/chart is in JPG format but it is included at the start of the text(RTF) for conversion to Mobi Output, whereas book covers in Calibre have a seperate input section I don't know if this makes a difference ? |

Some types of pictures embedded in RTF aren't supported IIRC, as Itimpi noted (I think WMF/BMP are particular culprits). If the picture is just the cover and you've configured Calibre with the pic then the easiest thing to do is to use the 'remove first image' option under Structure Detection. That should get rid of the link causing the questing mark.
If the image was not a cover and something you did want in the book it might be easier to extract the image from the document in your rtf/doc editor, and then re-insert the image using Sigil after conversion. |

a ?image usually means the Image path/name did not convert properly (or the image was not present where the converter could find it). (If this was an EPUB, I would just use Tweak and look at the code) |

Make sure you are actually embedding the picture in the RTF and not having it as a link to an external resource in Word.

I have Sigil installed but not too sure as it displays programmer's language. How do I insert image in book which is not a cover image and it is in JPG format. i.e. which file is it inserted in (Mobi Output File ?) after conversion. Thanks |

As a follow up to this comment - yes image is embedded in Word Doc - it is at the start of text in JPG format and in addition to cover (Cover is produced ok ) This image produces question mark ? at the start of the book after the cover is displayed correctly. This means it must be a problem in the conversion ??? Thanks for any help |

Its impossible to say more without access to the file in question. Open a ticket and attach the RTF file.

Since the rtf conversion isn't working for you, you might want to try opening the rtf in Word and saving the file as html filtered and convert that html file to mobi via cailbre.
