I received the same email this morning and was shocked at how unsurprised I was to hear it.
Should have waited just one more month. 'Tis too late now. |

Wow, that's a big price difference from Canada ($149 currently), especially when the dollar is at par.

I think it has more to do with increased competition in the US. I think in canada Kobo has a relatively large market by virtue of increased availability in canada. borders likely has more competition from the Nook which you cant easily buy in canada nd the kindle which is online only.
If borders wants to compete in the ebook market they need to move some units so that customers will buy ebooks from them and not from amazon. |

My Mom got the KOBO price of $99 on sale recently so she at least won't feel rooked. She is enjoying using it!
Yeah, tubemonkey, given their financial condition, I don't want to buy anything from Borders unless its in person in the store. An acquaintance bought some e-books from them and was told they were 'back-ordered.' ![]() ![]() |

100$ for a Kobo works for me. Thanks for telling.

Just to keep things in perspective, Borders owns just a minority share in Kobo. Even if Borders goes belly up, the Kobo will carry on.

It will be interesting to see if Borders Australia suffers or to what extent because of the looming bankruptcy declaration in the US.
