Converting takes longer than normal?

Hi everyone! This is my first post. But I've been using Calibre for a while. And I've come across a problem that it bugging me.

I normally convert .lit files to .mobi so I can read it on my Kindle. All the .lit files I previously converted, converted with no problems at all. And within a couple of minutes. No more than 5 mintues. But I have this one .lit file that I cannot convert to .mobi. Its been converting for over an hour, and still no results.

Any help?

Some Lit files take forever, generally ones where Microsoft word was involved at some point. The easiest thing to do is wait, it may take 24 hours.

If you don't want to do that, and you understand html, you can enable the debug output under conversion. That will let you see the extracted html - in the 'input' folder of the debug directory, and you can attempt to clean it up. Usually it's the style attributes which slow Calibre down, but it could be any number of things depending on what stage the conversion process is slowed down.

Wow.. really? 24 hours?
I will try to do this over night and see if it'll finish converting. I just hope it doesn't kill my laptop!

It's more likely it will just take a 'while' whether that is 45 minutes or 3 hours, who knows. But some users have reported 24 hour conversions. As long as you don't block your laptops cooling vents it will be fine
