Best K3 font?
I'm currently using Georgia, but I wonder what other's who've changed the font use/recommend.

I've seen the K3 font hack, but where can I find the Georgia font? None of the other ones listed on the wiki page looked like something I'd find in a real book, which is my only real complaint with the Kindle. I like the Sony reader font, and of course the ipod touch/ipad and Nook Color have various good fonts to choose from, so I wish the Kindle offered some of the same choices.

With k3, you can use this simpler hack, which does not require jail breaking or installing anything except the font files.
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99355 You can copy the font you want from your PC or Mac. |

Thanks for the help. I'd seen the font change thread before, but was scared off by talk of 'unix-friendly text editor' and where to find actual fonts. I found a Mac-friendly editor called MacVim, though, and after a few tries, managed to get it to work. That, along with the really simple de-DRM script for Macs to convert library epubs and pdfs, solves my only issues with the Kindle. Now I'll just have to resist the urge to keep trying out new fonts on it.

I'm thinking about changing fonts as well and would really appreciate if people could post screen shots of the fonts they are recommending. That way it would be quick and easy to compare different fonts, not having to install them just to get a feeling for the look.

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/att...5&d=1289971551 This font looks like one used by some paperbacks, which in terms of size, print, and paper color, is what the kindle resembles. It's not terribly elegant, but very readable to my less than perfect vision. The default fonts I don't find very readable or elegant. |

My favourite font is Calibri, but without hacking (not sure if I want to do that just yet!), I have stuck to the original text font.

I quite like the Fontin font, nice subtle serif font.
You can download the for K3 prepared version: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...96&postcount=2 and use the non jailbreaking method https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99355 to change the font ![]() |

Hpnestly, I think Amazon made a great choice with their standard font. Since the Kindle is not quite 300 dpi, but rather something like 150 dpi (low resolution for "paper") the slab or block serif font included makes the best out of the screen. This means that the "serifs" are straight lines, which display so much better than nicer but diagonal serifs that would appear jagged on a low res screen.
Just my 2c. |

I tried using Georgia, but it caused my Setup, and Experimental, menus to disappear, so I went back to the font that came with the hack. (Which is a little bit faint for me.)
I like that Souvenir Bold, but I don't know where I can get it. The CModBold also looks good to me. (I guess my eyes are going bad.) Maybe I'll try loading the CModBod tomorrow. With luck my Setup Menu won't disappear again! I'm not sure what's going on with that. Something tells me it's op error. ![]() |

Most of those fonts say they are for the 2.5 sw. Which seems to be correct since when I try them on my Kindle 3 they don't look like they do on those screen shots. ![]() I want a good clean font without serif that can be used in small size and still be clear. Anyone have any sans-serif suggestions for a Kindle 3?... |
