new version of Duokan out...need upgrade advice :)

just seen a new version of Duokan is out with some minor improvements like progress bar on PDFs and some bug fixes.

i already have a previous version installed and wanted to know what the easiest way to upgrade the OS is?

ideally i'd like to preserve all the preferences i've been using from the version i'm using now.

replace the copy of DK_System folder with the new one, copy the update.bin file for your model to the root folder, and run Update Your Kindle from the Settings Menu.

Settings for individual books will be maintained. You will have to add your dictionary again. I have done it a few times, and it doesn't take very long. The changes are mostly bug fixes, like crashes opening certain pdfs. I can't really see the differences.

thanks for that friend...i may well wait for a more substantial update based on your report. *touch wood* i've never had problems with doukan crashing on me yet

There are tons of problems with that system, you should stay away from it unless you really need its features, though I'm not sure why you would

this is scaremongering....care to list the 'tons' of problems?

as a PDF reader it's rock solid to me. the one big problem is the character spacing in ePubs, but i don't collect that format myself.

I agree, max99. I have been running Duokan for some months now without problems. The manual trim function for pdf is great.

i didn't even know that was a feature. not sure if i have any pdf's with links, i'll check

I have a pdf with a hyperlinked table of contents that works fine in Duokan.
