950 with epub and pdf okay (or not)??

I was visiting with Sony phone support about an issue with my 950. He was MOST capable and helpful and fully resolved my issue.

During the phone exchange he noticed that I had epub books and pdf books on my 950. He said having both formats on my 950 (and ANY of the new Sony ebooks) would cause serious problems. I told him I was going to load some books from Adobe Digital Editions (Adobe pdf) and he indicated this should be fine.

Since I had mostly epub books, we deleted the pdf books from my 950.

Can anyone put into perspective what this Sony agent said? Is he correct? If so, is there a work-around? Is it just plain pdf that's the problem? Any other details??

If the epub and pdf on the ereader cause a problem, how do I recover?

Thanks!

That doesn't make any sense to me. They support both formats and I can't see why he thinks it would be an issue. I haven't loaded any pdf's yet, but I will later this evening.

All models prior to the 900 (yes, 900, not 950) had a flaw wherein the device would not permit both a DRM'ed PDF and a DRM'ed Epub to be open at the same time on the same device. Non-restricted books were fine - a DRM in one format, and a non-DRM in the other was fine, just not both types, both DRM'ed. Sony resolved that for the 900, but (surprise! surprise!) couldn't have cared less about a retroactive fix for the older models.

He may have been "MOST capable" but he was also an ill-informed idiot... the PDF/ePub problem relates to library books borrowed via Overdrive and was prior to the PRS900 eReader... having both formats on the reader resulted in an inability to access one of the formats (usually the first loaded) but didn't affect other PDFs/ePubs anyway... regardless, it's been a non-problem since the PRS 900.

My 950 will not open DRM'd ePub books (properly) borrowed from the libarary. Don't know why. No problem with non-DRM'd ePub books, though.
