Exchanging Kindle: what to do?

I got my kindle 3 from best buy and am planning on exchanging it tomorrow.

While i love the product itself, one of the page turning buttons (page forward on the right side) feels really loose, and i'd rather i get a new one than risk having it fall off and not being covered by the warranty.

Before I do turn it in for an exchange though, what do I have to do to reset my kindle? Moving all my non-drm books is a must, obviously, but what about my kindle ID? Is it as simple as going to deregister on my kindle's personal settings and removing the ID?... and I can register with the same ID on my new kindle?

Thanks in advance!

Yep - really just de-register it and remove your books and you are good to go as far as clearing your personal info off the Kindle.

I'm not sure about protecting Collections if you've done a significant amount of work there. I think that Amazon backs up your Collections and I know that there is a piece of 3rd party software floating around here "Collections Manager" or something like that.

Some people like to do a factory reset just to make sure.
