Time out while updating metadata in the reader?

I have today 8638 items in my Libra 2 virtual library, of which 10 have been added in the last 3 days.
As usual, after transferring those 10, I've started updating the metadata in the device. The first step of the process (until accessing the "updating the metadata" screen) was fine, but the horizontal bar that goes through the books was blocked. I tried to stop and start it with no success. I then exited every thing and started again, but in two blocks: the first 5000 and the rest. It worked fine.
I suppose there is a timeout somewhere.
Anybody knows if I can increase it?
If not it is no problem since the two blocks method works fine.
