Hi,
This is a great community with lots of tips for resurrecting old hardware. Thank you! I thought I had successfully installed Winterbreak (https://kindlemodding.org/jailbreaking/WinterBreak/) on my 10th Gen Paperwhite (FW v. 5.17.1.0.3). However, whenever I try to run MRInstaller packages via KUAL, I see the following message in the logs: "./xzdec: not found" Any ideas on how to fix this? |

Which packages? Do they have hf (hard float) as part of the name? Some such as OTARenamer and KOReader are available in hard float editions but most of the older packages are not and will not install.

I basically need the Python and Screensaver packages and that's where I'm running into the "xzdec: not found" problem. |

KOReader does not seem to have issues with any extensions that I've tested using 5.16/5.17/5.18 firmware. Just make sure to install KOReader from the nightly builds until the kindlehf builds hit the mainstream.

As I am on 5.17 FW, is there a path to downgrade WinterBreak and then install an alternate JB that can get me to the point of being able to install the Python and Screensaver hacks?

No, but you can downgrade the firmware to a version that does not use hardfloat. Lokk for the downgrader thread.

A bit more direct: The type of software is related to the firmware version, not the jailbreak. Any firmware 5.16.3 or higher requires hf built binaries. Anything lower uses softfloat, which is the previous "standard". The jailbreak that can be used is also tied to the firmware version. The kind of software that you can run has nothing to do with the particular jailbreak used.
