Flash the global rom of Boox Page for Boox Leaf3 Chinese version

Hello everyone,

I have a Boox Leaf3, it is a Chinese version of Boox Page. I can use it with English language, but the Boox free library only have Chinese book. I can't change to another server. So, could you please help me how to flash a Page's rom to Leaf3 or change server? Does it possible?

It's possible, but I'd have to make a custom recovery for the Page, which I don't own. I'd need to work with somebody on this. They'd have to be able to follow instructions, report back what happened, pursue this to the finish and respond quickly enough that I don't lose all interest.

Can you share the instruction? I will follow it and response as soon as possible.

Ok, the first step is to become familiar with both ADB and EDL. Can you get an ADB shell? You can find the EDL stuff in my sig, follow the instructions, make sure that you can get into EDL, load a loader, list the GPT and reboot with /z.

The update that you will be using is http://firmware-us.boox.com/e275d1c3...cde/update.upx You will need to decrypt that with DeBooxUpx.py (Google it).

Hi @Renate,

I have a question (I dont do anything on my device yet). It had a problem since afternoon. The device auto power off because i dont use in 1 hour, but I can not start it up, it's stuck at booting up and loop. I try to enter recovery mode, format factory, then it ok. After do init setup such as change language to english, change timezone, I try to poweroff, and it was stuck again. I dont know why? I use it normal in 1 month since I bought it. Current firmware is 3.5.4. Please help me.

Well, we're going to do a full update anyway. Make sure that your battery is good and charged.

You may need to look into making an EDL cable (Google it).

And you know how to get in and out of EDL?

You need to be either rooted or have EDL working to go further. EDL is the safest and best.

You should back up your recovery image.

I think I need a guide to make sure, I am afraid the device will be brick. Could you please send me a URL or step by step guide?

Just follow the instructions in my sig on the EDL page. Play around. Don't write anything. Read recovery, make a backup.

The Firehose loader gets loaded first and only once.

edl /l00whatever-it-was

That is slash-ell-<filename>.
