Caution on buying Voyage Demo Models

I've recently purchased two used Kindle Voyage store demos. They easily are taken out of demo mode and restored to stock and can be fully registered once that is done.

The issue is both are showing signs of swelling batteries. The left side of the screen is slightly separated and elevated from the case making the buttons on that side need a very heavy press or pinch to operate. After looking at a teardown video for this model I see that the battery is located in the region where the screen is separating.

Currently I've not been able to locate any source of replacement Voyage batteries. Once the batteries are replaced, these would make fine units.

Demo models pulled from use will continue to operate until the battery is drained. Leaving a battery drained is one cause to make it begin to fail, swelling when it is fully charged again. A swollen battery is a fire and explosion risk.

You probably face the same swollen battery possibility with any used demo model, but replacement batteries are generally available for them.
