You can create Virtual Libraries that can be used, The other choice is to add/use a single Tag AFAIK Compound queries (like you can do using the Tag Browser/Search bar) are not possible from a browser |

You can do any query from the browser that you can in calibre itself, you just have to type it manually in the search box.

Thanks @TheDucks and @Kovid. I believe that it will take some time to type and edit one by one in my collection. :-D

![]() So that takes care of the user searches via the browser. the other question answer is still: Browser users can not make changes to the DB |

QuarantineAndScrub: Tags and Genres
The QuarantineAndScrub add-on has full functionality for both Tags and Genres. Because it uses User Maintained tables, it is extremely flexible. You can tune Q&S to do what you want it to do.
For Tags, it can derive new Tags from the Title, from the Comments, from Author Defaults, and by running any derived and pre-existing Tags through a Tag Rules Table that will change an input Tag (or regular expression match) into an output Tag. The Q&S Derive Genres function uses Boolean Tag Rules and Author Genre Rules to derive Genres based on Tags (if there are any), or by Author (if not). The sequence would be to fully scrub within Q&S your books, copy the derived/changed Work Tags to the Real Tags, and then run the Q&S Derive Genres job to update the derived Genre using the Tag Rules and Author Genre Rules. The Boolean Tag Rules and also the Author Genre Rules are User Maintained, obviously.
