Image sideways in book view and on device
First off, Hi, I'm Amee with One Wet Shoe Publishing, and I've just discovered this forum, and I'm super geeked!
This is the second book I've done with Sigil, and this is the first time I've had this issue. The first book had a couple dozen photos, and this one has about a hundred. Just a couple of the images show up sideways, and even after I readjust them in PS, they're still sideways. I've closed and reopened the file, readjusted again, closed and opened again, and I just don't know what's going on. Any help would be appreciated. |

A sideways image was stored that way. Use a image tool to rotate 90 (the right way) (Windows Image viewer will rotate images). Then replace the image file with the un-twisted ![]() |

You might make sure that you close Sigil and re-open it after your image manipulation. Sometimes Sigil doesn't update properly.
Also make sure the old image is deleted from Sigil before loading the new one. Then add and insert the new image. That way all the references stay ok. BTW make sure the book refers to a image in the epub, not one on the internet or the computer. Last edited by mrmikel; 08-16-2013 at 06:50 AM. |

The CSS3 "rotate" property works...at least in QT/Sigil...I haven't checked it on a device. The -webkit one works in QT/Sigil....I left the others there for possible compatibility issues. |

but we are talking EPUB 2 devices (which will be around for a long time). Sigil is also about EPUB2 |

...and yet it still works in Sigil. ![]() Just because it isn't included in the epub2 spec doesn't mean devices/editors don't support it. That could be a cause of the OP's issue...if they inadvertently have extraneous code in their CSS. The "stored image" answer is certainly more likely...I just wanted to clear up that rotational controls ARE available... Granted, the OP is working for a publishing company and should be sticking with strict epub2, but for those who make personal epubs, they may be interested in knowing that some CSS3 is supported in Sigil. If it is also supported on their personal reader then they can use it. ![]() Last edited by Turtle91; 08-20-2013 at 02:20 PM. |

![]() Then, of course, we have the issue with CSS properties and selectors that should or must be supported by ePub2-compliant readers, and yet many don't, which turns the difference between ePub 2 and ePub 3 into just a difference in reader support (regarding CSS). |

Sigil supports practically all webkit properties. Regrettably, very few devices readers can take advantages of them so far.
