TRANSFERRING BOOKS FROM PC TO KINDLE
Hi All
This is my first posting on this site. Both I and my wife have separate registered Kindles. I also have books on my pc. How can I copy and paste books from the PC to either Kindle. ![]() |

The books on your PC need to be in a format readable by Kindle, preferably mobi. When a Kindle is connected to your PC by USB it will show as a drive, and books can be copied to its documents folder.
I strongly recommend calibre as a library manager and format converter, and you can also use it to transfer books to Kindle. Suggest you browse the calibre forum for information, and more expert help than mine. |

First, if the books are from a major bookseller (Amazon, B&N, Kobo, Sony, etc.) they undoubtedly have DRM linking them to either one or the other of your Kindles, or to the PC itself. You'll need to remove that DRM before the books will be usable on both of your Kindles. (Google Apprentice Alf) Next, depending on the format, once you have the DRM removed, you'll also need to convert the books to a Kindle friendly format. If you bought the books from Amazon, or from a source that has .Mobi format books, this has already been taken care of. Finally, once you have DRM free copies in a format Kindle understands, you copy them via USB to the Documents folder of the Kindle. This whole process is greatly simplified if you're using Calibre to manage your books. AND you have the DRM tools from the site I mentioned. |

Don't forget you can also email the book (assuming it's a mobi) using your XXXX@kindle.com address (found on your Amazon page.)

I second Calibre for transferring books to your Kindle.

Judging by the title of this thread, you've already tried shouting at the Kindle?
But umm yeah, calibre. |
