Probably a will fix! Fixes will show gradually, let's say. I just wanted to release new version today because I can see some people finding the new feature to Hide metadata headings useful. Especially those using GR Author notes. The action spec is something I had in mind to alter, but I forgot.

The other 2 requests I dont follow, actually. What empty columns, in EBD? Fit to content where, Narrow BD?

Why don't reply titles show on Quoted replies

So, I am referring to the Bottom Book Details feature.

On the widths - what would suit me best, would be for columns 1 and 2 to auto adjust to width of longest 'label: value' pair with a gap between them, and for the third column to have a maximum width set by me.

With the default settings I get this

I will take a look. If not possible, wouldn't something like 2, 2, 1 or 3, 3, 1 work? Perhaps try also 4, 4, 2 or 5, 5, 3.

What's 'better than the rest' varies by library, and within library by book. I'll leave it be - it cosmetic.

Given Move to top/bottom are in the context menus, why no top and bottom buttons for the three Bottom BD zolumns [sic].

I got this error, after tapping Apply - but can't reproduce after calibre restart.

Version 2.1.1

The Toolbar button main click->Open plugin configuration option doesn't work - always shows left panel BD.

If I have enabled EBD's three zone BD under book list feature, and I switch to having BD to right of book list via the Main window layout shortcut (Shift+Alt+L), or via Prefs-Look and Feel->User interface layout I get this:



I.E. three zones in the right side BD

And, when I switch BD back to 'under the book list' I get the standard two zone BD



I've reverted to 2.1.0

It's not a 2.1.1 regression - when I dug deeper its the same in 2.1.0.

It seems to me the label can be misleading but the tooltip and the hint right next to it make it clear: "Always toggles panel", see:



There are 2 EBD's toolbar buttons: one at whatever toolbar/menu you choose to set it on installation, and another optional button that sits before the search box.

While the label says 'Toolbar button main click', what it probably should read instead is something like: the main plugin's toolbar button main click, which sounds clunky and redundant to me. For translation and UI real estate economy purposes this choice was made, but I welcome suggestions.

The second problem would happen on very early development phase, before initial release; I couldn't reproduce on latest version. If you give me more steps to reproduce, I can try again.

BTW, it is on my to do list to swap the location of the Wide and Narrow buttons. I find it more user-friendly to have Wide on the right side, which reflects the UI location of the Book Details panel.

IMO - the behaviour of a calibre plugin button should not vary between different locations.

I detest the "Wide / Narrow " designators, they are the complete opposite of the shape of the object they control, the Book details panel, and have nothing to do with the placement thereof… the term 'postmodern obscurantic redirection' springs to mind.

To reproduce the three zone BD on the right

Configure EBD something like so:



Then go to Look and feel->Main interface and change User interface layout to Wide



Click Apply, et voila. three zone BD on the right
