(Obviously, a screenshot does not reproduce the colour of the background and text as it appears on a colour e-reader, but I do not have a camera capable of capturing reality. Let's just say that the impression you get is similar). Last edited by cellaris; Yesterday at 06:28 AM. |

Interestingly, one of the statements that has caught my attention the most from some people who prefer a colour e-reader to a monochrome one is that the background graininess takes away the feeling of reading on an electronic device (while for monochrome purists, that background graininess produces an unpleasant sensation). I don't have that feeling with e-readers (I prefer a white background), but I do with tablets and smartphones: I find white unbearable. Background textures were designed to alleviate that feeling of artificial reading (although I find them equally artificial). Personally, I don't like them on colour e-readers, but some people use them for that very reason.

Here is an image i just took from my Kobo showing one of JRR Tolkein’s illustrations in the special edition of The Hobbit. Now, obviously JSWolf will HATE this, but someone else might find it as aesthetically pleasing as I do, and it might help someone who comes across this to make a decision.
Dr. Drib reminded me I also have the complete Chronicles of Narnia, which will also look nice. |

Thought for sure I'll check alot before buying a new ereader, but thanks. By looking at the specs of the Kobo Libra colour, it says it has Kaleido 3 technology, but looking at: (personally I'm not interested about the speed refresh for apps, etc..) the Kaleido 3 in there looks darker, and Gallery 3 e-ink won't drop from 300 dpi to 150 in colour mode. Kaleido 3 screens on this device keeps a minimal amber light by default, which also I won't like much (but imho). Onto the Pocketbook Inkpad Colour 3 (which uses too Kaleido 3 screens) the natural light is not that ambery.. Definetively Gallery 3 (imho again):Quote:
Also: didn't checked that the only devices within Galley 3 is reMarkable Paper Pro. Last edited by nana77; Today at 02:17 AM. Reason: didn't checked the price LOL |
