Question Send To Kindle And Plain Text Files

I have some older fiction in plain text files (these go back to Usenet) and I am thinking about using the Send To Kindle feature to get them onto my kindle.

Does anyone have any experience using Send To Kindle with plain text? I am curious how they end up? For example, do they reflow?

I tried searching for a comparison of how how well various formats convert by the service but I was unable to find anything.

Copy / Paste into LO Writer or Word, style paragraphs and headings. No direct formatting, no tables and no columns. A final extra save As in docx and import to Calibre as epub2. Use a small page size with no headings, footers or footnotes.

Or add the texts to Calibre, convert to epub2 and "join" the epubs.

Then either STK or convert to dualmobi (or azw3 if you don't use WiFi) and USB transfer to Kindle.

You can of course use STK to send plain TXT files, but those cannot have different text sizes and attributes (bold italic etc.), navigable table of contents, etc.

If you care to spend some time editing you might as well generate ePub and add a cover. There are lots of tools for doing that.
