Kindle only became international, essentially, after Amazon got the go-ahead to sell ebooks in various other countries. As well as sorted out the whispernet stuff. Other than pleasing us, B&N would, I think, have very little motivation to sell overseas directly because they can't benefit from the on-nook ebookstore, generally speaking.
