I remember that storm! It was all over the news programs here. Scary!
I don't do well with tomato plants (which is why I only have one this year

) My roses do very well (no matter how many times I chop them down or prune them to skeletons). Go figure... It takes forever to dead head them and pick up petals and still they thrive! Anything else I plant, that I want to grow... just dies.

I do have good luck with citrus trees in pots. I have grapefruit, orange, and tangelo trees.
