Admittedly, I can generally get a seat on the train services that I catch so that makes it easier to use the Ipad.
What I want is an ebook reader, not a surf/news device. That is, I want immersive reading for my commute, not extractive reading. In immersive reading, the device should "disappear."

My commute involves 25 minutes on an el train where I usually but not always get a seat about 2/3 the size as a normal man (me, 5'9" 175 40 Reg) needs. I find the iPad too big & heavy to "disappear." OTOH I once had a K2 and know that it would, particularly if the stupid key pad were to be eliminated, as would be the case for a touch screen.

A Kindle Touch with exterior dimensions about the size of the iPad screen would be perfect. This is just about the size of a DVD case or a small trade paperback.

Don't get me wrong - I'm very happy with my iPad, and for certain kinds of travel it is very nice indeed. But for immersive reading it works best in comfortable, non-mobile situations, at a table or in an easy chair. At least, that's the way things work for me.

I could just go ahead & buy a K2 now, but I've been ruined by touch.
