Honestly - and sadly - it would work. Last summer I was standing next to a coworker when a large wolf spider (any relation to JSWolf?) ran out from under a desk straight toward us. I stepped quickly to one side - and the spider promptly changed course straight towards me! Fortunately, my coworker's shoe descended sharply!
