OK, but felt like the prelude to greater things. Good characters, but obviously the start of something rather than a complete story in itself. Unsurprising, when your read the intro (which I usually leave to last), which explains the parallels to a situation near the start of the American War of Independence.

Next: Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams, which I've heard of but never got around to reading.
