Actually, that's quite a bit more than half. My high school geometry is really rusty, but if you decrease the circumference of a sphere by half, you decrease the volume way more than half. It's a cubed function (pi*r)**3.
Edit: As I was leaving this post it hit me. The tumor is one eighth the size it once was.
