That's what you want me to root for? Heh. Not to mention the right platform is a $99 reader, not a $999 tablet.
There was an interview with Jobs some time last year where he said that aPple would never make a dedicated book reader. Most of aPple products are multitasking device and this one will be too. Still, the size of it plus the Touch zooming interface would make for an interesting magazine reader; not a book reader...

Honest answer Derek.
Although most of us hate aPple's closed loops, overprices and snotty reactions, through the eyes of a simple user we have to give them credit for making nice toys with interesting novelty features.
