Having used it now for a long time I think swiping is excellent - the only thing i would say is it would be nice to have a marriage between touch screen in addition to physical buttons - number of times I hung up on a caller by accidently pressing the phone to my ear, or having frozen fingers trying to desperately take my gloves off just to answer the phone!
Obviously you wont have this problem, unless you fall asleep on your eReader :-) , but I think their is merit with finger swiping. As an ardent fan of my now very out of date palm T3 I also use stylus and its no biggie other than loosing your stylus (I always tend to put my nintendo ds stylus down and forget to slot it back in)

Not to pick on redbaron, but I don't see the benefit of swiping, other then as an initial universal UI interaction. After my first hour with a book reader, I just want to be able to hold the reader with one hand, and with my thumb be able able to turn the page with a simple press. This seems ideal for reading to me.
If there was no bezel and only screen, I would want to be able to simply tap the screen (with my thumb) to turn the page.
IMO.
