If you want to be able to buy kindle books from your kindle, I think you have to have it turned on - but if you should accidently buy a book from the kindle via one-click, you have the opportunity to regret before it downloads via wireless. Alternatively you could just buy the books from your computer instead.
Personally, I never use one-click because I like the feeling of security I get when I review the order before it's sent. Not that that always work; I once accidently ordered 2 of each book (p-books) - but the seller was great at changing the amounts immediately
