I've had this cooktop for over 10 years. it has survived my kids, exchange students, dogs charging through the kitchen, marauding cats, at least one horse being led through, a few earthquakes (one in the almost 7 range). who knows what it took to jar this just enough at this point in time to make that screwdriver cause an arc finally? anyway, the wiring was fine, I just had to buy two new knobs and replace them. there was much holding of breath when I flipped the breakers back on!
