I hope that that is the justification. Considering iRex's past record, however, I doubt it. For instance, the price of DR1000S was $799 and it went up to $859 without any clear explanation from the company. With the upcoming new larger size eink devices, the price persists.
With DR800SG, I hope that is not the case, but ...
