It's higher amps that won't hurt (assuming the power supply is voltage regulated).

As pilotbob said, that much voltage difference shouldn't be harmful. I've accidentally charged things with more than that much difference and experienced no problems. And the Sony brand official Sony Reader charger is 5.2V (I have one and am looking at it now), not 5V.
