oh my god !!! i have no idea what you're talking about, but that's terrible !!! i'm so sorry ! i hope it won't be too expensive to fix.
i suppose, if you want to find the silver lining, it's better something like that should happen while you're still in the dock, rather than out in the middle of the water... and the thingie could have fallen on you or your son instead, so in a way you're lucky.
