If it's a library that uses ADE, you'll first need to register your Reader with the Adobe software. The only way to do that (that I'm aware of) is on a PC with both the Sony software and ADE running at the same time. Once the Reader has been registered with your account, though, you can download/transfer the books with no problem on a Mac.

A couple of ways of doing this are borrowing a friend/family member's pc/laptop for 5 minutes while you take care of the registration process. Or if you're more technically inclined, you could download a demo or purchase a copy of Parallels or vmWare for your Mac (both are virtual machine software) and install a copy of Windows on that (the Release Candidate of Windows 7 is free for the time being). I recommend going that route (only if you feel comfortable with it, though), as that also opens the door to being able to run all of the Windows-only deDRMing, book formatting, conversion, etc tools that are available (plus any other Windows program you might want to run).
