I generally prefer to hire out that type of work. But, my wife is budget sensitive. So, she wants to DIY things.
I recall the last project my wife did. It was time to rip up the old carpet in our family room. We wanted to put one of those floating hard wood floors in. I thought we could just hire one... of course, my wife said that is to expensive and if I helped here by the florring at Home Depot she and Derrick (my son) would do it.
Well... after them playing for about an hour or so and not even getting the first course put down, she asked me for "advice". I gave her some and went back to the TV or whatever. Another hour later she asked me for some more advice... she still hadn't made any progress. Well, long story short... about 5 hours later my son and I finished the whole floor and she was nowhere to be found.
So, while I can DIY stuff... I prefer to hire it out and do what I am good at, sitting at a PC and getting paid to do it.
