In Italy there's law 633/1941 and d.lgs.68/2003, stating that unauthorized removing of drm is illicit craking.
The conflict with the user's right to a backup copy is managed by Catch 22 (art. 71-sexies, comma 4), which says that protection systems must not prevent the user to make one copy for personal use,
even if only an analog one. (so, since there is another low that says that you can't print it, I think this means that you can take a photo of your ebook, but only one and only with your old camera with film...)
