Ah, the younger generation …
The seventh of the Anne Shirley books follows the six Blythe children as they befriend the four wild, motherless children of Anne’s new neighbour, the widowed and often absent-minded Presbyterian minister John Meredith. The Meredith children are neglected by their well-meaning but distracted father, leading them to constantly scandalize the town with their antics. The “Ingleside children” and the “Manse children” share adventures in a hidden valley, rescue a runaway named Mary Vance, and and try to find a new wife for Mr. Meredith who will properly care for his children. .
