There is a relatively new method using Kindle for PC (Windows only) and you can also use any eink Kindle up to and including the Oasis 3 (2019) to liberate your Kindle books. Yes, the new books as well. I've bought and converted for my Kobos quite a lot of recently published Kindle books.
