Amazon says this is 'set by the publisher', but as I'm the author and 'publisher', this isn't true.

I did this to test what causes the limit to be triggered. As far as I can tell, it's triggered by all books I Send-to-Kindle. Does anyone know if there's some metadata that can be manipulated to overcome this? I love the Kindle devices and have not found an acceptable alternative — don't like Kobo, don't want the distraction of Android. I hate to jump ship over this one little thing. But I need a way around this as I sometimes have a lot of notes and highlights.

You can bypass the clipping limits on books sent via Send-to-Kindle using the Kindle Android App.

To do this, open the restricted book in the kindle app. Then tap the highlights button on the toolbar. Next, tap the sharing button in the top right corner. From there, you can export all your highlights. Your highlights will be exported as an HTML file.

You can follow the instructions here:
https://docs.readwise.io/readwise/do...dle-apps-email

By the way, this only works in the Android app. The limit still applies in the iOS app.

There are some drawbacks to this method. First, you can only export all notes at once. This means you can either export them after finishing the book, or you'll need to handle the duplicate notes. Second, there are very few tools that can parse Kindle highlights in html format, compared to MyClippings.txt. As far as I know, Readwise is the only choice, which is quite expensive.

I had the idea of writing a parser, but apparently it's quite a bit of work. Maybe I will finish it in the future.
