When I look through the Kindle forums on MobileRead, Reddit and the Kindle modding community, there are quite a few complaints that would appear to be due to the storage being corrupted, failed to read-only mode, etc. The only real difference is that those Kobo models with removable µSD storage are able to recover from those failures and newer Kindles like the fixed storage Kobos are unable to.
