The phone aspect ratio is like reading a newspaper column, not a book. By all means have a portable eink too, but most eink are 3:4 aspect and most tablets are 16:9 aspect (though 16:10, 4:3 and 3:2 exist).

It would practically kill eink sales if they didn't have 6 to 8 inch models in 3:4. I had a phone-shaped eink. Gave it away. If I want to read on a phone form factor I have the Nxtpaper 40. Better bettery life and UI for audio than eink.

My 5″ Sony PRS-350 is a nicer portable form factor than any phone. Sadly it and Kobo mini are gone.

It's crazy that Kobo has no 7″ mono and didn't do a cost reduced 8″ instead of Sage (no notes, scrap the 8 magnets, power cover port and slightly larger battery).
