Wifi: open a ticket on github. That's the way to figure out the subset of devices and firmware versions that are affected.
Time: embedded devices might ship broken time. That's what happens on Kindles. It seems to happen on pocketbook too. Probably your timezone is shifted 8hours from CET or UTC and pocketbook magically "composes" your time based on device settings + universal time, instead of changing to the proper timezone.
If that's the case it cannot be fixed with proper code. It might be fixed with "magic hacks". Who knows?
Setting date/time on pocketbooks is expected to fail because we're not root there and those things require elevated permissions.
