Sure, my kobo OS hasn't been updated for many years - I stopped it connecting after updates kept making things worse - and maybe it's better these days, but I've rarely had major issues with the actual reading part on any of my kindles.
I haven't been annoyed by this for a long while. The kobo usually is able to override whatever setting the ePub have.
