The jailbreak is not an OS replacement, nor a full ROM replacement. Jailbreaking is just making it so you can run 3rd party code on the Kindle. It does not block or break normal functioning of the Kindle OS to be jailbroken. There are plugins that do things like block OTA firmware updates but nothing will block your ability to use the Kindle Store and make and download purchases.
