One possibility (which often happens) is that the anime has outrun the manga. Often when that occurs they do filler episodes until the manga has enough stories to warrant doing more anime episodes. With
Bleach they did an entire story arc, The Bounts, as filler that sat between the second and third manga story arcs. Unlike many filler episodes, The Bount Arc in
Bleach was great. It is possible with
One Punch Man that they just decided to waiting for more manga stories rather than resorting to filler episodes.
Another possibility is that the rights to the Third Season of
One Punch Man haven't been acquired by a U. S. releasing company (yet). Sometimes, an anime series move from one company to another. An example of this is
Dragonball Z where the First Season was localized for the U. S. by one company, and then localized by another company (Funimation) for the rest of the series. Later, Funimation redubbed the First Season with the current voice actors.
Although it is not anime, a variation of that occurred with the series
ReBoot. In the U. S. the series was broadcast on ABC and at the end of the Second Season the series was cancelled, ending on a cliffhanger. There was a Third Season but ABC did not broadcast it, although it was shown in other countries. It was 10 years before the Third Season was finally shown in the U. S. as part of
Toonami on Cartoon Network.
