Last week my father got a few red bumps on his back, which were itchy. My parents thought it must be mosquito bites. But he got more and more. So over the weekend my mother thought he might have shingles again (like 18 months ago). My father had his yearly check up today and had the doctor check it out. She also thinks it shingles, though without testing she isn't sure. She told him to keep using ureum cream (reduces the itching) and if it hasn't cleared up in a couple of weeks to make a new appointment.
Meanwhile she's order the first round of vaccinations for both my parents (after I have regularly nagged them to get it for 18 months). They'll get it when they get their flu shots. Finally.
My father asked me if I wanted the vaccination, too. He offered to pay for it. Unfortunately you can't get one until you're 50, unless there's a medical reason. So I have to wait another seven years. I'm thinking it will make the perfect birthday present I'm going to give myself.
