NickelMenu does have an nickel_orientation setting which might override the default, i.e. setting it to portrait would prevent switching orientation but I have never tested that.
Code:
menu_item : main : Portrait : nickel_orientation : portrait

I have a Libra 2 and also found this inversion somewhat annoying. (Why would it be annoying? When it gets triggered while not actually desired.) I can see it's potential usefulness, but I don't use the page turn buttons and never want the text upside down

. I already had NickleMenu installed, so adding this was quite easy. Confirming setting to portrait prevents orientation switching.
On rare occasions I switch to landscape via default settings, then when done switch back via the NickleMenu item. Annoyance quashed. Thanks!
