There was admittedly more after the bit I quoted which may have sent people off on a wild goose chase (in the context of NickelMenu), but to me the actual literal request reads as not the ability to change the minimum brightness, but simply the current brightness. I hesitate to make assumptions as somebody with zero familiarity with how NickelMenu works under the hood, but this request
seems like it might be more in NM's wheelhouse than, as you point out, fiddling with the
minimum brightness level.
Though perhaps I've misinterpreted their request.
