I thought maybe this would indicate that the launch firmware was wasting battery due to a bug, but I suppose it's also possible that the firmware was fine, and the shoddy battery meter was just reporting nonsense charge levels until the battery got exercised a few times.

Well, perhaps with wifi and bluetooth on. I bought my Sage upon release too, but the battery life was never that bad on mine. I keep it in the airplane mode almost all the time. Still, it doesn't last as long as the Libra does and never has. IMO the battery life is mostly the same as it was on the original firmware.
