The problem is that there is a check to see if the book details library is the current library, in which case it does the "normal" processing.

It uses the configuration of the library it comes from. In this case both libraries are the same so the same configuration is applied.

As far as I can tell, all these issues come from the same problem -- the book details point to a book in the current library. You can work around the problem by opening a book details window on some book and leaving it open. Subsequent book details windows from links in the same library will open secondary windows.
