The pen also is expensive & complex compared to a BT clicker. It would be better as a separate gadget. Really they only need an extra check box and a little extra SW on the BT models as the clicker or a keyboard does work for a short while till the power saving cuts in.

I wouldn't mind them offering a separate gizmo. Or at least, as you say, the software implementation for making use of a third-party clicker easier.
