You might be able to recover them.

I use Waterfox as my primary browser which is a fork from Firefox. One of the things both browsers do is make regular backup of your bookmarks (mine looks as though its done weekly).

You can check if you have a recent one by opening the Bookmark Manager, clicking on Import and Backup, then Restore and selecting a file (if available)as per the image.

You can also create a export bookmarks as HTML as a secondary backup.
