Poor acting across the board, some ludicrous casting, the only thing that kept me goig was the scenery. New Zealand has some spectacular vistas, and then I read that the next series will be filmed in the UK!
I also found it underwhelming. I don't know about the appendices, but for me it was the lack of goal or maybe too many (small) goals. In LotR there was a greater goal everyone was working towards. This first season the various storylines were very separate.

I'll give the next season a chance when it airs. But to be honest I enjoyed Wheel of Time more. I might have to watch it again soon. I feel I missed some things, probably because I was sick last year and wasn't able to fully concentrate on it.
